Word 4 Weapons helps Churches to make their communities safer places through education and by encouraging individuals to give up their knives and other weapons.
"I'd like to see every major town and city with a knife bin just to make the United Kingdom a safer place."
Michael Smith MBE., Founder, W4W

Activity

Churches provide secure Knife Bins where people can confidentially deposit all forms of knives, weapons and bladed DIY tools. They also provide training and information to help make their community safer.

Time

Once Word 4 Weapons has conducted a site assessment, the Knife Bin can be installed very quickly. It may take anywhere upwards of a few hours a week to run the programme, depending on the amount of work ambassadors wish to do within the community.

Cost

There is a one-off payment of £3,000 to have a Knife Bin installed and serviced for the first year. It then costs £550 each year to maintain the service and provide 'AII I Need' resource packs. Word 4 Weapons also provides ideas on how to crowdfund your Knife Bin if needed.

Partnership

Word 4 Weapons will help you develop links with the community and raise the profile of ambassadors who can help to promote the initiative.

Support

Word 4 Weapons will conduct a site assessment and provide training, information and 'AII I Need', resource packs for you to share with the community. They will also install, empty and maintain the Knife Bins.

Resources

Churches need an accessible outdoor area where the Word 4 Weapons team will install a Knife Bin. Word 4 Weapons will conduct a site assessment before installing a Knife Bin.

People

You will need at least one volunteer ambassador to oversee the running of the project.
