Taste and See helps churches bring freedom to those whose lives are ruled by food, dieting and emotional eating.

Activity

Volunteer facilitators use audio-visual materials to run a 10-session programme, that helps participants develop a healthier relationship with food. These can be face-to-face, virtual meetings via an online platform or a combination of these things.

Time

The training will take roughly an hour and then the project can be set up immediately. Advocates spend anywhere upwards of an hour a week managing the project, which includes small admin and computing tasks.

Cost

The Taste and See programme costs £260 plus VAT to purchase.

Partnership

Churches should be aware of local healthcare, counselling and pastoral services where they can signpost participants or may receive referrals.

Support

All the teaching is delivered through the audio-visual course materials. The facilitator manual will help volunteers lead the sessions and support group discussion either face-to-face or online. Participant workbooks and daily devotionals are also provided in an online or paper format.

Resources

You'll need a safe place to meet as a small group either in person or online via Zoom, Teams or similar. You will need the facility to show a DVD or view the course content online.

People

One volunteer will lead the initiative whilst another will support the group. Volunteers should be good at listening, facilitating discussions and creating a non -judgmental, supportive environment.
