Street Pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who care about their community. They patrol in teams of men and women, usually from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on a Friday and Saturday night, to care for, listen to and help people who are out on the streets.

Activity
Street pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who care about their community. They patrol in teams of men and women, usually from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on a Friday and Saturday night, to care for, listen to and help people who are out on the streets.
Time
It can take upto 18 months to commence a Street Pastor initiative from initial registration to first patrol. Training takes place locally or regionally and is made up of core sessions and a programme of other sessions that are tailored to the local context and needs. It is generally recommend that Street Pastors complete 42 hours of training in the flrst 18 months after being commissioned.
Cost
License Fee to Ascension Trust is 15% of income received for each project. The cost for training a new Street Pastors is £450 including uniform. There are other costs involved including equipment (rucksacks, flip flops, first aid kits, mobile phones). It is important to have a coordinator for the project, which can be a paid or voluntary role.
Partnership
You will need to work alongside the local council and police. It is important to have them involved early in planning the project
Support
All Street Pastors coordinators receive support locally and from Ascension Trust as well as an annual Conference. Each Street Pastor has to do 8 core models of training and undertake refresher training every three years.
Resources
Your team will need a base, where they meet prior to patrolling and at their break. Also for use by Prayer Pastors. It is also recommended to have a computer and a secure way to store information, and branded clothing.
People
A minimum of three Street Pastors are allowed patrol on per night. Also a management committee to oversee the project.
