The Besom Network
RunningSpace uses running as a platform to champion life and beat suicide. Teaching people how to run is the conduit for building faith, mental and physical health, and strong relationships, saving lives and creating suicide-safer communities.
"You saved my life, your kindness, your faith, your belief in me when no one else had any. I am 23, almost 24 months free of suicide attempts. Thank you doesn't seem enough."

Cost

The initial set-up cost is £900, which includes the cost of qualifications and mentoring. We recommend an ongoing monthly donation of £50 to RunningSpace. Ongoing costs are limited to venue hire and refreshments. These costs are flexible and can be adapted to suit your venue and to meet the needs of your participants.

Partnership

As part of your church's offering, RunningSpace will be embedded within your existing community and church networks. Whilst no outside support is required, RunningSpace and host churches naturally work alongside local and organisations to create suicide-safer communities.

Support

RunningSpace provides Run Leader mentoring and suicide prevention training, open to the wider community. We partner in prayer to champion life and beat suicide nationwide. Churches receive practical support including risk assessment templates, codes of conduct, and insurance cover through our membership of the Association of Running Clubs.

Resources

We teach people how to run using as little 'kit' as possible, removing the barrier of needing expensive watches or access to a running track. RunningSpace can deliver sessions in the centre of a city or the heart of the countryside. All you need is a venue that can offer a warm welcome and host refreshments, where people feel safe and have access to facilities.

People

To deliver weekly sessions, we recommend three Run Leaders who enjoy running, with at least one having two years’ running experience. You don't need to be the fastest! Neither do you need to have been affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts yourself. All we ask for is a willingness to listen with compassion as you run together, shoulder to shoulder.
