For many years, Growing Hope has been equipping churches to host a free therapy clinic within their premises.
Hosting a Growing Hope clinic has been wonderful for our church community. It has brought families through our doors, given members ways to volunteer and serve, and strengthened the church’s connection with the local community.
Activity
Programme delivery – setting up a free therapy clinic to address a lack of free therapeutic provision for children with additional needs in your local area. The clinic will also offer peer support groups for parents (When Dreams Change) and siblings (Siblings Groups) for family members.
Capacity building – the Clinic Manager can lead your church’s accessible children’s ministry.
Time
"It would normally take 18 months from first conversation to clinic opening. The process is well-established, moving through set-up agreements, collaboration agreements through to appointment of trustees and a Clinic Manager. Once open, the clinic can run indefinitely."
Cost
The average expenditure of one of our clinics outside of London during its first year is around £60k. The majority of these costs will be covered by fundraising efforts and annual giving from your church. You can apply for up to £2,000 towards this project.
Partnership
It’s important to make people in your local community aware of the clinic’s existence and the impact of the therapy provided, to encourage them to provide regular financial support. You may be able to garner missional giving from other local churches, to fulfil their social action objectives. There are great opportunities to make connections with local schools.
Support
We are asking for this MicroGrant to provide start-up funding for setting up the free therapy clinic. Growing Hope has experience in this area, and we can provide support in the form of governance, HR, finance, operations, fundraising and comms etc.
Resources
The therapy clinic will require a room in your church, but it can have shared use when therapy is not in session. Your Clinic Manager is likely to need specialist equipment to carry out the therapy, which can be purchased once the clinic is established.
People
A Clinic Manager, who should be an experienced Therapist, will need to be hired – Growing Hope will support with the recruitment process. Your trustees board will need at least three unrelated members, and it’s helpful to be supported by a group of volunteers to provide assistance for admin, welcoming clinic families and fundraising.
