Baby Basics helps churches to provide new mothers and families who are struggling with essential items to care for their baby and children under 5 years.
"Baby Basics enables not only professionals to feel assured that new babies have everything they need, but also new mothers to feel that they are seen and they are valued."

Volunteers create Moses baskets filled with essential items, such as nappies, clothing and toiletries, for health visitors to take to vulnerable new mums.

A project can be set up very quickly once the initial training has been completed. Projects operate anywhere upwards of half a day a week, depending on demand and resources.

Set up costs are £150 and there is an ongoing £25 a month license fee, other running costs are minimal as most items will be donated. You will need to buy new cots and Moses basket mattresses for each hamper.

Baby Basics will help you connect with midwives, health visitors and other professional groups who will request baskets for vulnerable new mums.

You will receive an operations manual, publicity design, online tutorials and handbooks to help you run the project. You will also have your own online management system to help track requests. Baby Basics UK also provides you with monthly support from your regional hub lead and ongoing training and development as required.

You will need a small area to store donated items, space to create the hampers and means of logging the requests for support.

You will need someone to coordinate requests and manage the team of volunteers who will collect, sort and pack the Moses baskets and packages of support.
